Lionel grew up in a family winery in Beziers, located in the Languedoc region of France. He attended the University of Bordeaux where he took a degree in oenology and viticulture (1982), and a Master’s degree in business administration and marketing (1984).  He studied under Émile Peynaud and Pascal Ribēreau-Gayon, the two seminal figures in modern oenology and winemaking. Resident in the US for over twenty years, Lionel has represented two of France’s most prominent wine companies as Regional Director at Castel group, and later as Vice-President,  Director of French Wines at Boisset.  In his spare time, Lionel plays fullback on the Beziers Rugby Club.
