Cité des Climats & Vins

The Wine Education Council (WEC)

is pleased to collaborate with Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne (Climats et Vins) by providing charitable grants to support its educational mission of promoting awareness of the history and culture of the wines of Burgundy.  WEC has set a goal of supporting Climats et Vins with $1 million in funding over the coming two years.

As a U.S. public charity, WEC holds fundraising events and accepts tax-deductible contributions in support of its educational mission, which includes support for its grantmaking program to educate the public about the wines of Burgundy at Climats et Vins.

Persons interested in making contributions to WEC or participating in our fundraising events should contact John Winthrop, our general counsel, by e-mail to john@winecouncil.org.

Our international partnerships further strengthen this mission. In Burgundy’s UNESCO World Heritage wine region, we collaborate with the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne to offer specialized workshops and courses in Chablis, Beaune, and Mâcon, giving participants direct access to one of the world’s most celebrated wine regions. We also work closely with the Association des Climats et Vignobles de Bourgogne to preserve historic vineyard landscapes, advance global understanding of the Climats system, and ensure that centuries-old winemaking traditions are carried forward by future generations.
Environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of WEC’s educational philosophy. Our programs highlight sustainable vineyard practices, responsible resource management, and the protection of wine-growing ecosystems. We prepare professionals to balance commercial success with environmental responsibility, cultivating a generation of leaders who recognize their role as guardians of the land and who will safeguard wine regions for years to come.
